Les enfants grandissent à vue d'oeil.
La maman travaille de plus en plus et ce pour son plus grand plaisir... mais cela laisse trop peu de temps pour refournir la garde robe des enfants dont la têtes ne passe plus les chemises d'hier et donc les chaussettes multicolores s'affichent sous leur pantalons...
Voici ce que j'ai réussi à faire...

I have been working a lot lately to my great satisfaction but this means that I have had very few moments to sew or even to share some creative times with Gabrielle.
However, my kids are growing, blossoming, flourishing... and they need an upgrade of their wardrobe!
I am actually enjoying the (ugly but so practical) school uniform which means that Gabrielle needs only to be dressed for the week end! So 2 or 3 outfits is more than enough.
For Thomas it's another thing! the gentleman is simply growing too fast for my shopping/sewing scarce time... I hope to show you something more soon...

Gozo Trip 2

Gabrielle et Thomas commencent à jouer ensemble, ils se font rire mutuellement, ils se tiennent companie, thomas est complètement gaga devant sa soeur qui adore sauter dans tous les coins pour le faire rire (son public parental est un peu blazé). Sur cette photo Gabrielle se repose après une démonstration de Tai Chi improvisé et c'est donc Tom qui prend le relais.
Pourquoi avoir la télé? On a bien essayé de la regarder dans la chambre d'hotel, mais vraiment, entre le crise financière grecque, les documentaire bidon et les mineurs chinois enterrés, on a préféré l'éteindre. Ce qui me fascine dans la télé c'est la rapidité des images, la succession d'images vides devant lesquelles effectivement on ne pourrait par rester 2 minutes.
A la place, on regarde Ponyo notre nouveau Miyazaki favori!

Hier c'était Dimanche.
Un peu malades, nous sommes restés les enfants et moi à la maison.
Alors nous avons peint, dessiné, colorié...
nous avons fait sécher le linge avec les peintures
et puis nous avons pétri, mélangé, malaxé et enfourné de quoi manger pour la semaine entière!
sans oublier un peu de tricot pour la maman (un pull taille 5 ans, je prends de l'avance!)

Yesterday, it was Sunday.
A little bit sick, the kids and me stayed home.
So we got busy painting, drawing and coloring...
we dried the paintings with the clothes
and we knead, miwed, malaxed and baked for the week!
and obviously the mum knitted a bit (a jumper for a 5 years old, I will have time to finish it!)

Yes, today I am such a proud mother.
My daughter started school yesterday
and she was excited, smiling, going towards other children, making mock sentences in a mish mash of English and Maltese.
She ran on her own to get in the school on time.
leaving her mum on the side,looking at her from far.
she was happy.
She was so happy

and it made me so deeply happy inside,
seeing her growing on her own,
witnessing in silence how she behaves with others
how she cares for the little boy crying
how she always finds a language to communicate with others.

Look how proud she is!
It's such a joy to be a mother.

Yesterday we made a cake to share with two very good friends (a mum and her daughter!).
Gabrielle was so pround of her achievement!
And it was not only esthetic but also delicious! Everybody liked it, so below I put the recipe.

The Famous Yoghurt cake (here with addition of super kitch details!)

This is the easiest cake on earth and perfect to do with kids. There is no order in the mix of ingredients, no need to weigh or to mesure, it's handy to remind and simplissime! We have been doing this with Gabrielle since she was 1 year old! It's easier than pancakes!
if you don't believe me just read this:

In a big bowl mix the following ingredients
1 yoghurt pot (keep it as the pot will serve as the mesure unity)
2 eggs
2 pots of sugar
3 pots of self-raising flour
1/2 pot oil (or butter)

stir well
pour into a well buttered dish
and that's it!
in the (preheated) oven for about 20 to 30 minutes, to 180 °C

In the photo we covered the cake (once cold) with green coloured marzipan §that was the tricky part!).
the merry-go-around is made of a carboard plate and 4 straws.

Gabrielle a toujours aimé se faire des lits un peu partout dans la maison. Elle étale une serviette de bain, vole une nappe qui séchait sur un fil et un coussin de chaise et le tour est joué!
C'est un peu comme construire une cabane, mais à la mode de la plage!

This is March! Thomas 's month!

We have a big roll of paper from Ikea and we love to make use of it.
Painting on it, drawing ramdonlessly over, sticking pepr cuts, tearing it with revenge, even hammering it at times. We can do anything that crosses our mind. and we invite any one to join the fury, with her uncle Martin she learns the dripping technique on the path of the great Jackson Pollock's ...
But then what do you do with these huge sheets of paper?
I had the idea to make calendars out of them, so I could stare at them when I felt like.
Gabrielle is proud to be exhibited on top of her mother's desk, and her spontaneous master-pieces fill me with joy every time I glance at them.

She became the object of her mother's fantasies.
In "My Little Princess" she films the ambiguous relation she had with her mother, the famous photographer Irina Ionesco.
It made me think about my own relation with my daughter and the right to photograph her, the responsability to exhibit her image.

For Christmas, Gabrielle received this wonderful book. (Was it from you Zaza?)
I have not enough vocabulary to express my wonder at this work. Honest!
Gabrielle truly loves it, carries it everywhere she goes, never tired of filling it up with the colors of her choice.
It is not only a drawing book, it trigers your child's imagination, asking him/her to invent landscapes or the gift in the opened wrapping paper, the fishes in the sea, the plants sprounting in the garden...
And there are one double page per day!

Cela fait deux mois déjà que nous nous étions retrouvés pour jouer à la princesse dans les jardins cachés de Valletta... et je n'ai toujours pas le temps de vous présenter les photos comme je le voudrai. Alors en attendant... encore quelques petits extraits, juste pour vous faire patienter!

L'idée de ce premier "fashion shoot" était de réunir une maman (de substitution) et une fille avec des robes assorties...
Emma s'est très gentiment prêtée au jeu, pour le plus grand plaisir de Gabrielle!
